Mr. Bennett was born on Nov. 11, 1935, in Gillman City, Mo., a son of Edna Bridgman. He married Ada Sue Hook on Nov. 6, 1957, in Quincy. Ada died Sept. 9, 1995. He later married Doris Burnett. Doris survives of Quincy.
Mr. Bennett worked for Quincy Soybean for 30 years, retiring on April 11, 1994. He loved fixing cars and building race cars.
Survivors include three sons, John (Marie) Bennett of Mendon, Jim Bennett of Detroit, Mich., Bill (Crystal) Bridgman of Centralia, Mo.; five grandchildren, Preston Bennett of Mendon, Natalie Bennett of Mendon, Michael (Kelsey) Bennett of Quincy, Jennifer (fiance, Joe Kohl) Bridgman of Kansas City, Kan., and Steven Bridgman of Lawrence, Kan.; and one great-grandchild, Noah Bennett of Quincy.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon with the Rev. Pat Monroe conducting. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy.
VISITATION: 10-11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
