Terry Hummel

Terry Lee Hummel, 69, of Golden, passed away at 4:42 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2021, in his home.  He was born on February 18, 1952, in Hannibal, Missouri, a son of Lawrence Hummel and Gwendolyn (Duncan) Miller.  He married Rhonda Bowles on June 26, 1993 in the Ursa Bottoms.  She survives.

In addition to his wife, Terry is survived by his parents-in-law, Ronnie and Ellie Bowles; four children, Kelly (Tommy) Butler, Kasey (Audie) McMurtrey, Kimberly Hummel, and Hannah (Kyle) Mixer; grandchildren, Tegan Butler, Allie (Garin) Smith, Kelsea (Justin) Snider, Samantha (T.J.) Stiefel, Cody McMurtrey, Logan and Emma Dobbs; ten great grandchildren with one on the way; sisters, Marsha Forrest and Debbie (Rich) Brown; brother-in-law, Tony (Susie) Bowles and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mike Hummel; and a sister, Shirley Martin.

Terry graduated from Quincy High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He worked for Ursa Farmer’s Co-Op in Meyer, Illinois.  He enjoyed hunting, commercial fishing and being outdoors.  He was passionate about raising various birds. Terry had a great love for all animals, particularly his special dog “Bump”.

Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon, with Steven Forrest officiating.  Memorials contributions may be made to the family.
