Robert F. “Bob” Peterson, 92, of Macomb, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away at 12:12 PM Saturday, January 19, 2019, at The Elms in Macomb.
He was born on October 12, 1926, in Camden, Illinois, the son of Walter and Myrtle L. (Cleek) Peterson. He married Edna Lung on September 19, 1947, in Palmyra, Missouri, and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Roberta McClure and Susan Carson and husband Randall all of Colchester and Juanita Bainter and husband Lynn of Macomb, seven grandchildren, April Hill and husband Darren, Brad Carson and wife Toni, Adam Carson and wife Amy, Jason Bainter and wife Stacy, Janelle Bainter and wife Erin Clark, Marshall McClure and companion Malinda Harris, and Michelle Bixler and husband Aaron, fourteen great grandchildren, Bethany Thompson and husband Joseph, Brooke Tindall, Gracie Carson, Tyler Griffeth and wife Nicole, Caitlin Schmalshof and husband Evan, Caleb Carson, Meg Carson, Madison McClure, Makayla McClure, Morgan McClure, Addison Bainter, James Bainter-Clark, Anna Bainter-Clark, Joshua Bainter-Clark, one great great granddaughter Eisley Thompson and one due in September, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father Nanke Klockenga, one infant brother Thomas Peterson and three sisters Mary Bubb, Leona Chapman and Audrey Quinn.
Bob was a heavy equipment operator for Linn Eaton and Morris Morrell, and would later own his own company. He also worked as the Brooklyn Township Road Commissioner for 13 years and for the Schuyler County Highway Department for 15 years, retiring in April 1991.
He was an avid duck hunter, enjoyed fishing and was a St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. During his time at The Elms, he enjoyed the musical programs and playing bingo three days a week. His greatest times were those spent with family.
Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with David Haney officiating. Interment will follow in the Camden West Cemetery at Camden. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to the MDH Hospice or The Elms.
