Richard Toland

Richard “Dick” Toland, 67, of Rushville, passed away at 1:50 PM, Monday, June 25, 2018, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born on May 21, 1951, in Rushville, the son of Charles and Laura (Fuqua) Toland.   He married Laura Parker on August 26, 2000 in Rushville and she survives in Meredosia.

Also surviving are his son Chris and wife Chelsey of Rushville, two grandchildren Kaisen and Paisley Toland, two step children Dustin Parker and fiancée Loretta and Andrew Parker all of Meredosia, three step grandchildren Lakyn Parker, Addy Parker and Bryleigh Parker, one brother James Toland and wife Sally of Rushville, two nephews Jamie Toland and wife Sarah and Matthew Toland and husband Saul Nache and one niece Cara Ham and husband Terry, one aunt Joanne Grate, one uncle Jerry Thurman both of Rushville and several cousins.

Dick was a 1969 graduate of Rushville High School and a graduate of Spoon River College.  He worked for over 40 years as a union cable splicer.  He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the Rushville City Cemetery with Pastor Charla Meyers officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials are suggested to Hope Blooms or the charity of one’s choice.
