GOLDEN, Ill. -- Marion Carroll Skouby, 80, of St. James, Mo., died Wednesday (May 30, 2012) in his son's home in Troy, Mo.

Marion Skouby was born on Sept. 29, 1931, in Bland, Mo., a son of Charles I. and Margaret Cassel Skouby. Marion was married to Marian Ruth Skouby on May 11, 1958, in Golden. She died Jan. 6, 2005.

Marion was a civil engineer and graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and also attended University of Illinois-Urbana earning his master's degree in civil engineering. Marion Skouby was a geotechnical engineer and was recognized as an expert in construction dewatering. He continued his career as a consultant part time after he retired. He loved his profession and solving problems.

Marion enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a former Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed camping and canoeing. He was a member of Chi Epsilon, Missouri Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

He had a great sense of humor and was devoted to his wife, children and extended family.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea.

Marion will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Skouby and wife, Melisa of Troy, Mo., and Curtis Skouby and wife, Mary, of St. Louis.; a daughter, Lynelle Luther and husband, David, of Sikeston, Mo.; two brothers, Richard Skouby and wife, Ordith, of Vienna, Mo., and Eric William Skouby and wife, Brenda, of Iberia, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Skouby of High Gate, Mo., and Yvonne Skouby of Columbia, Mo.; along with five grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents, Charles I. and Margaret Cassel Skouby; his wife, Marian Ruth Skouby; three brothers, Anton Skouby, Alan Skouby, and Charles Skouby; and a sister, Mary Skouby.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden, the Rev. Barbara Ziah conducting. Burial with full military honors will be in Golden Memorial Gardens in Golden.

VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo., and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden.

MEMORIALS: Donor's choice.
