GOLDEN, Ill. -- Larry A. Albers, 71, of Denver, Colo., passed away Monday (March 23, 2015) in Birmingham, Ala.

Larry was born Feb. 2, 1944, in Quincy. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden. He was the son of the late Albert E. and Irma I. (Ideus) Albers. He married Sue McCawley of Coxs Creek, Ky. She survives.

Larry grew up in the LaPrairie-Mindale area, attending school at South Prairie, Huntsville and Augusta. In 1961, his parents moved to the Golden area. He was a 1962 graduate of Central High School in Camp Point. After completing high school, Larry graduated from United Electronic Institute in Louisville, Ky. From 1965 to 1974, Larry served in the United States Air Force as a biomedical equipment technician. He also served in Vietnam. After Larry's service to our country, he was employed at the Kodak Company in Denver and Palo Alto, Calf., as a photographic equipment manager. He was most recently employed as a driver for Volunteers of America in Denver.

Surviving are a son, Larry D. Albers of Coxs Creek; a grandson, Jacob Albers of Coxs Creek; two sisters, Gloria (Alan) Reuschel of Camp Point, and Kristy (Rick) Goudschaal of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Roger Albers of Golden, and Gregory (Rhonda) Albers of Golden; nieces, Shari (Jeff) Horras of Machesney Park, Megan Goudschaal of Gilbert, Ariz., and Chelsie Goudschaal of Tucson; nephews, Scott (Angie) Reuschel of Sandy, Utah, and Dustin (Kate) Goudschaal of Portland, Ore; great-nieces, Sierra Horras of Springfield, Mo., Shyenne Horras of Machesney Park, and Alexis Reuschel of Apex, N.C.; great-nephews, Cody Reuschel Luke Reuschel, both of Sandy; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Eilert and Minnie Albers; grandparents, Albert and Sena Ideus; and a sister-in-law, Bonita Albers.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. .Wednesday, April 1, at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Golden, with the Rev. Linda Murray officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Cemetery, a veterans cemetery, in Quincy.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Golden.

MEMORIALS: Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Wounded Warrior Project.
