John Adam Wolf, aka Papa John , Johnny Angel, and Wolfman, age 75, of Rushville, Illinois, passed away February 6, 2023, at his home under the care of his loving wife. He was born on March 13, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Sarah Adams Wolf. John married Christine M. Peters on December 2, 1994, at the LaSalle County Court House. Christine survives in Rushville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two step-daughters: Amy Peters and Beth Peters; four step grandchildren: Brianna Peters, Taylor Ford, Tara Ford, and Hayden Pilchard; and one step great grandchild: Tripp Adam Bollinger. John raised his step- granddaughter, Brianna Peters as his own daughter.
He is also survived by two brothers: William Wolf and Michael Wolf; two sisters: Roselyn Mattson and Patricia Wolf; and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Tom Wolf, and a sister, Sally Wolf Thomas
John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Northern Illinois Gas for over 33 years, living in Lostant, Illinois. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Rushville, Illinois, where he worked part-time for Lincoln Land Community College for 13 years. .
John was known as a man with a heart of gold, especially shown as a loving and giving husband and stepfather. He was easy going and was always ready with a joke. He enjoyed fishing, loved to sing, and was an excellent dancer. John was always the life of the party and will be greatly missed by friends and family.
