Fred Elmore

Fred L. Elmore, 83, of rural Rushville, Illinois, formerly of Peoria, passed into eternal life on September 27th, 2023, at 4:14 pm. Fred Elmore was born on August 11, 1940, in Brown County, Illinois to parents Mervin H. Elmore and Olive Morrell Galletti. Fred graduated from Richwoods High School in 1958, where he was captain of the Cross Country Team.  In his younger years, Fred was an accomplished guitar player, he played lead guitar for both “The Constellations”, and the “Rock’N R’s”. He also served 6 years as a member of the Illinois Air National Guard and was a Personnel Affairs Tech.

On June 30, 1968, Fred married Karen S. Peters. They remained together until her death on August 29, 1993. He later married Cynthia Schnieder on May 2, 1998, and she survives.

Fred was a life insurance agent for New York Life Insurance Company from April 13, 1964, until he retired in 2003, although he held onto his certification and remained an agent until his death.  He had been their company’s “Man of the Year” for over 30 consecutive years for Central Illinois

A featured speaker in the life insurance industry, he spoke at the State of Illinois State Convention twice, and was featured in two books, “The Shooters”, and “Lead People… Manage Things”.  In addition, he hosted two television programs, “Fred Elmore Enquires” and “Perspective” in the Peoria area.  He was also the host of a live Call-In radio show “Straight Talk” Fred was a life member of the “Million Dollar Round Table” as well as having a Charter Life Underwriters, CLU. He was a life member of New York Life’s Production Club and was a charter member of the Chairman’s Council.  He was also a member of the Society of Financial Consultants. He was a past member of the Peoria Life Underwriter’s Association.  Fred was an avid horse racer, and a member of the United States Trotting Association, as well as president of Elmore’s Race Horses Ltd, and Bred & Raised Standardbred Race Horses for over 30 years. 

Fred is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cynthia; his daughter, Jennifer Elmore (Dennis) Garwacki of Winfield, Illinois Brother Bruce (Marsha) Galletti of Chillicothe, Illinois; two grandchildren, Zachariah (Angela) Stenzel of Nashville, Tennessee, and Abigail (Boe) Renslow of Southeast Asia; and one great-grandson, Lazarus Van Renslow.

 He was predeceased by his father, Mervin Elmore, mother, Olive Galletti, and stepfather Charles Galletti.

As per Fred’s request, following cremation rites, a private graveside service will be held at a later date in Peoria, Illinois.

Memorial donations in Fred’s name may be made to the MDH Home Health and Hospice Care of Macomb, Illinois, the LaGrange Chapel, Versailles, Illinois, and First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, in Rushville, Illinois.
