Don K. Caley, 76, of Loraine, passed away at 12:55 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021, at Blessing Hospital. He was born on December 25, 1944, in Quincy, Illinois, a son of the late, Don and Marguerite (Andrew) Caley. He married Lou Powell on September 13, 1963 in Mendon. She survives.
Survivors also include, his daughters, Kelly (Don) Hendrickson of Mendon and Kim (Daren) Moore of Loraine; five grandchildren, Kyle (Emily) Hendrickson, Brooke (Danny) Valentine, Mason Moore, Dawson Moore and Carson Jo Moore; five great grandchildren, Sadie Shoemaker, Leigha and Nash, Deyton and Scarlett Valentine; sisters, Connie (Fred) Loos of Payson and Maureen Hare of Macomb; brother-in-law, Jim Taylor of Golden, also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Verna Taylor; and brother-in-law, Eldon Hare.
Don attended Unity Schools. He first was employed by the Railroad. Later, he began working for Gardner Denver retiring after 43 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. But his greatest joy was his grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon with Russell Corrigan officiating. Interment will be in New Loraine Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon. Memorial contributions may be made to the QMG Cancer Institute or the donor’s choice.
