Danny R. Moore, 67, of Rushville, passed away at 4:25 AM, Friday, December 23, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born on August 25, 1949, in Rushville, the son of Bob and Alberta (Hillyer) Moore. He married Lynn Ingles on March 3, 1973, in Rushville.
Surviving are two children Chris Moore and wife Sarah of Rushville and Joey Fritz and husband Chris of Bluff Springs, five grandchildren, Grace and Olivia Moore, Dalton Moore, Camden and Cooper Fritz, two brothers Larry Vincent and wife Retha and Terry Moore and companion Kathi Albertson all of Jacksonville, two sisters Marilyn Kimbro and husband Gary of Browning and Cheryl Wheelhouse and husband Jim of Rushville, his companion Diana Estes and several nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Danny attended Rushville High School and worked for 19 years at Oscar Mayer in Beardstown. He then began his career in harness racing as an owner, trainer and driver. He was the owner of Moore Stables, retiring in 2006. In 1996 and 1997, he was named Driver of the Year. He later worked with his brother Terry at HTH and his brother-in-law Jim Wheelhouse Construction.
He was a member of the Schuyler County Fair Board and the US Harness Racing Association. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, hunting and fishing. He was the unofficial head of the neighborhood watch association. His special times were attending his grandchildren’s events.
Services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Reverend Fred Fritz officiating. Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to Hope Blooms or the Schuyler County Track and Field Association.
