Dale was born on July 7, 1933, in Adams County. He was the youngest child of the late Chester and Elva Hendrickson Shrader. He attended elementary school in Loraine and graduated from Unity High School in 1951.
Dale worked for Universal Atlas Cement Co. in Hannibal for 13 years, then worked for 25 years for a local farmer. In his earlier years he was an avid hunter and fisherman and walked fields searching for Indian relics. He won an award from the Illinois State Archaeological Society for the best personal find in 1976. He was an avid outdoorsman and a wonderful teacher, touching the lives of many people.
He was a foster parent for Ronald R. Shrader Jr. and Edward E. Todd during most of their younger years.
Dale is survived by Larry Harris, who was raised as his brother, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon. Interment will be in the New Loraine Cemetery in Loraine.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 23, in the funeral home.
