QUINCY -- Charles Laverne "Lefty" Keith, 90, of Quincy, formerly of Mendon, died Tuesday (Jan. 20, 2015) at Blessing Hospital, Quincy.

Lefty was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Mendon, a son of Kenneth and Myrtle Barry Keith. He married Marie Hester on July 25, 1948, in Loraine. Marie survives in Quincy.

Lefty was postmaster of the Mendon post office for nearly 30 years.

He was a member of the Congregational Church of Mendon, Mendon Masonic Lodge No. 449, Order of the Eastern Star, Mendon Lions Club and N.A.R.F.E. (National Association of Retired Federal Employees).

He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and helping with American Red Cross blood drives sponsored by the Mendon Lions Club.

In addition to Marie, Lefty is survived by two daughters, Beth (Alan) Cornwell of Mendon and LuAnn (Steve) Beckman of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Cornwell, Jaime (Dan) Clark, Jenna (Dan) VaLeu, Jake Cornwell, Megan (Jay) Blair, Mackenzie Royalty and Keith Royalty; five great-grandchildren, Emma and Aubrey Cornwell, Brody and Bailey VaLeu and Rhett Blair; three brothers, Robert Keith of Quincy, Donald Keith of Seguin, Texas, and James (Margie) Keith of Hannibal, Mo.; and one sister, Shirley (Bob) King of Mendon.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Congregational Church of Mendon. The Rev. Dennis Gartung conducting. Interment will be in Mendon Cemetery.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at the Hunter Funeral Home, Mendon, with Masonic services at 7 p.m. by the Mendon Masonic Lodge No. 449.

MEMORIALS: Congregational Church of Mendon or the Mendon Lions Club.
