Bobby Johnson, 81, of Rushville, passed away at 3:25 pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born on August 20, 1942, in Dayton, Tennessee, the son of the late Coy & Sally Bell (Johnson) Holcomb. Bobby married Susan Stevens on October 24, 1963, in Virginia, Illinois and she survives. He entered the United States Air Force and was a medic during his tenure in military service. After he retired from the service, Bobby worked at True Value Hardware in Beardstown and at the IGA in Beardstown. He was a member and deacon of the First Southern Baptist Church of Beardstown.

Bobby was an avid bowler and enjoyed doing outdoor activities; fishing, hunting and camping. He loved sports, but especially football. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Tennessee Volunteers. Bobby also enjoyed Atlanta Braves Baseball. He enjoyed his family; especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of sixty years; Susan of Rushville, Bobby is survived by his daughter; Cara (Rick) Ham of Belize, two sons; Kevin (Michelle) Johnson of Mount Sterling & Scott (Jennifer) Johnson of Rushville, eight grandchildren; Christopher, Ryan, Tim, Dalton, Damon, Ashley, Zachary & Kendall, one great granddaughter; Camila, a forthcoming grandson expected in July and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by two brothers; Billy & Paul and by three sisters; Betty, Frances and Patricia.

In accordance with Bobby’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life honoring Bobby’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the First Southern Baptist Church of Beardstown. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Southern Baptist Church of Beardstown.
