Betty Ralston

March 31, 1939 — October 17, 2016

Betty A. Ralston, 77, of Rushville, passed away at 6:50 AM, Monday, October 17, 2016, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born on March 31, 1939, in Fulton County, Illinois, the daughter of Gary and Naomi (Brehm) Heath.  She married LaVerne Ralston on January 17, 1965 in Astoria.  He preceded her in death on April 13, 2004.

Surviving are one son Marty Ralston and wife Thelma of Rushville, one daughter Brenda Wessel and husband Tony of Frederick, three grandsons Scott Wessel and wife Sarah, Jon Wessel and wife Amanda and Drew Ralston and wife Loren, five great grandchildren Zachary, Dylan, Gavyn, Lucy and Avery Wessel, and baby Ralston due in March, three brothers Eldon Heath of Canton, Bernard Heath and wife Jo of Adair, and William Heath and wife Alice of Havana, one sister Shirley Tyler and husband Carl of Napa Valley, California, three sisters-in-law Kay Heath of Rantoul, Brenda Heath of Astoria and Rita Jones of Astoria, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Robert and Frank Heath.

A graduate of Lewistown High School, Betty worked at Chuck and Bill’s Grocery Store in Astoria and at Roger’s Bakery in Rushville.  She later operated a daycare from her home.

She was a charter member of the Rushville Church of Christ.  She enjoyed reading, western movies and was an excellent cook.  She was extremely passionate about the soap opera, Days of Our Lives.

Services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 21, 2016, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Jason Triplett officiating.  Interment will follow in the Messerer Cemetery near Frederick.  Visitation will be from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.  Memorials are suggested to the Rushville Church of Christ.
