Betty A. Davis, 95, of Macomb and formerly of Rushville, passed away peacefully at 11:29 pm on Monday, January 8, 2023, at The Lamoine in Macomb.

She was born on March 15, 1928, in Browning, the daughter of the late John “Jigger” & Elva (Bollinger) Bates. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Lewistown High School. She later attended bible college. She married George Stambaugh on May 17, 1951, he preceded her in death in August of 1984. Betty then married Chet Esther on November 24, 1990, and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1995. Betty worked for several years as a cafeteria cook at Browning Grade School. She had also worked for Wood Funeral Home and the Schuyler State Bank. Everyone that knew Betty knew that she was a terrific cook and would prepare wonderful meals for her family and friends. In her younger years, she was quite a seamstress, and she would make everything from doll clothing, cheerleader uniforms to wedding gowns. Betty enjoyed going out for coffee and visiting with her friends at Deb & Di's. She was devoted in her faith and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rushville. Betty loved to read God’s word and would have her bible open daily.

She is survived by her son, Joe (Letha) Stambaugh of Astoria, a sister in-law; Mary Lou Stambaugh and by her nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands, Betty was preceded in death by two sisters; Garnet Briney & Isla Soper and by a brother; Kermit Bates.
