Barbara Haney

Barbara Jeanne Williams Haney, 81, of Vermont and Camden, passed away at 5:40 PM, Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

She was born on September 9, 1936, in Browning, Illinois, the daughter of Russel Wayne and Marcella L. (Curtis) Kennedy.  She first married Ellis “Al” Williams on November 3, 1956, at the First United Methodist Church in Rushville.  She later married Phillip “John” Haney, Sr. on November 6, 1993, at the Vermont United Methodist Church.  He preceded her in death on December 1, 2016.  She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Marcie Williams, one stepson Phillip Eugene “Joe” Haney, Jr., one stepdaughter Cheryl Ann Thomas.

Surviving are three children Roxanne Morey and husband Scott of Springfield, Alan Williams of Rushville, and Susanne Hendricks and husband Ed of Mt. Sterling, one step son Steve Haney and wife Tess, of Vermont, one stepdaughter Sharon Stracker and husband Randall of Table Grove, one stepson-in-law Dave Thomas of Vermont, one stepdaughter-in-law Donna Haney of Rushville, six grandchildren Andrew Goldsby, Chris Williams, Jordan Williams, Ryan Williams, Sara Hendricks, and Jeremiah Hendricks, 10 step grandchildren Steve Haney, Ben Haney, Jennifer Bollinger, Adam Haney, Danny Thomas, Chris Haney, Sara Schmalshof, Cara Stracker, Scott Haney and Mandy Haney, five great grandchildren, 22 step great grandchildren, a cousin who was raised as a brother Gary Kennedy and wife JoAnn of Camden and several nieces and nephews.

A 1955 graduate of Quincy Beauty Academy, Barbara was a hairdresser first in the Chicago area.  Later she operated Barbara Beauty Shop in Camden for over 50 years, retiring in 2007.  She was also the hairdresser at the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden for over 30 years.

She was a member of the Camden United Methodist Church and attended the Vermont United Methodist Church.  She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Schuyler Home Extension.  She enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking.

Services will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Reverend Robert Greene officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, May 14, 2018, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.  Memorials are suggested to the Camden United Methodist Church or the Vermont United Methodist Church.
