Andy Runkle

Andy Runkle, 58, formerly of Rushville, passed away at Arcadia Nursing Home in Jacksonville, Illinois at 12:30am on Sunday, May 7, 2023.

Andy grew up in Rushville with his loving parents, Bobby and Rosemary (Gibbons) Runkle. The youngest child of three boys, Andy graduated from Rushville-Industry High School and went on to study small engine repair. He was self-employed for a time in Arkansas until his health issues became more difficult.

Andy loved cars and car shows and one year, at the Rushville Smiles Day Parade, he and his Aunt Marilyn rode in his step-father’s red convertible, where they waved at the crowds and had a wonderful time.

Andy enjoyed visiting with his family and he loved going to Dairy Queen for ice cream and sitting outside visiting. He was also very fond of his pet cat and mentioned it often. He was a big fan of Mickey Mouse and at one time had a substantial collection of memorabilia.  Andy’s family will miss him, and the times they were able to have together during his short life.

Andy is preceded in death by his parents, and step-father Wendell Surratt, and brother Jimmie Runkle.  

He is survived by his brother Bobby-Lee Runkle, Aunt Marilyn (John) Ervin, cousin George Runkle, and many other extended family.

There will be a Celebration of Andy’s Life at Triplett & Wood Funeral Home in Rushville at 11:00am on Monday, May 15, 2023. Rev. Fred Fritz officiating.

A visitation for Andy will be held at 10:30am, Monday, May 15, 2023, until service time. There will be an inurnment at Good Hope Cemetery immediately following the service.
