GOLDEN, Ill. -- Alfred A. Albers, 94, of Golden died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday (October 7, 2009) in the Golden Good Shepherd Home. Alfred was born on December 27, 1914, in Golden to Carl Henry and Grace (Weerts) Albers. He married Adeline Bruns on January 1, 1936, in South Prairie, Clayton. Adeline died February 28, 1978. He later married Meveline Ehmen on November 24, 1978. Meveline died January 3, 1995. Alfred retired as a grain and livestock farmer in 1978. He raised Angus and Simmental cattkem swine, and mules. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He also served on the board of Central High School for 28 years, Good Shepherd Nursing Home board, Golden Locker board and several livestock stock boards. Surviving are one son, Robert Albers and his wife, Patricia, of Golden; two daughters, Carol Kent and her husband, Jack, of Quincy, and Ruth Burget and her husband, Bradley, of Gladstone, Mo.; two stepsons, Larry Ehmen and his wife, Reba, of Quincy, and James Ehmen and his wife, Charity, of Waverly, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Patricia White of Quincy; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sixteen stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild, and one sister, Mary Slater, of St. Charles, Mo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson-in-law, David White; a brother-in-law, Leo J. Slater, and one stepgrandchild. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden conducted by the Rev. Linda Murray. Burial will be in Immanuel Cemetery in Golden.
